After talking with Matt on Friday night, and doing some reading, I have come to realize my easy runs aren't easy/slow enough. So I broke out my heart rate monitor - and plan on using that more (especially on the easy/recovery runs).
I plugged my resting heart rate into a heart rate zone calculator - and found my easy runs should be between 131-151bpm. My Garmin's zone 2 is 131-145 and zone 3 is 145-158. Today's goal - run 30 minutes at no more than 150 bpm.
Here's how I did:
Mile 1 - 8:56 / 151 bpm
Mile 2 - 8:56 / 150 bpm
Mile 3 - 8:45 / 148 bpm
.38 miles at end - 3:22 (9:00 pace) / 150bpm
